Favicon & Web Icon Generator

Create favicon.ico, tab, iOS and Android PNG icons, a web manifest and the matching HTML tags from one image, as a ZIP.

Create favicons and website icons in one go

From a single image, create favicon.ico, PNG icons for browser tabs, iOS and Android, a manifest and the matching HTML tags.

What files are created?

favicon.ico (with 16, 32 and 48px), favicon-16x16.png, favicon-32x32.png, apple-touch-icon.png (180px), android-chrome-192x192.png, android-chrome-512x512.png, site.webmanifest and the tags to paste into your <head> (head-tags.html). The file names referenced by the tags match the files that are created.

Preparing the source image

A square PNG or SVG of 512px or more works best. For non-square images you can choose "show everything" (leftover space becomes margin) or "fill" (the center is cropped to fill). Either way the image is never distorted.

Background, margin and corners

Leave the background transparent or fill it with a color. iOS home screen icons do not support transparency, so a transparent background is filled with white there, and corner rounding is not applied because iOS rounds the corners itself.

Using the icons on your site

Unzip the download, upload the files to the root (/) of your site, and paste the contents of head-tags.html inside the <head> of your pages.

Frequently asked questions

The tab icon does not change.
Your browser may have cached the old icon. Do a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) or check in a private window.
Do I really need favicon.ico?
Modern browsers are fine with PNG icons, but keeping a favicon.ico in the site root is still common for older environments and some services.
Can I upload an SVG logo?
Yes, but the SVG needs a width and height or a viewBox so its size can be read.
