Image Compressor

Compress many photos in your browser without uploading them. Pick a quality or fit each photo under a target size like 300KB, then download everything as one ZIP.

Shrink photo file size: by quality or to a target size

Compress many photos right in your browser without uploading them. You can also fit each photo under a size limit.

By quality, or to a target size

Quality mode saves with exactly the slider value. A setting between 70 and 85 usually cuts the size a lot with no visible damage. Target-size mode fits a limit like "under 300KB" and automatically finds the highest quality that fits. If even the lowest quality is not enough, it lowers the resolution step by step and tries again; if that still fails it shows the smallest result it could make and tells you the target was missed.

WebP or JPEG?

At the same quality WebP is usually smaller. Some older programs and upload forms reject WebP, though, so choose JPEG for anything you are submitting. "Keep original format" saves JPEG as JPEG and WebP as WebP. PNG is lossless, so lowering the quality does not shrink it much.

When the size does not go down

A photo that is already well compressed may not get smaller. Instead of making it larger, the tool keeps the original file and tells you so. To shrink it further, use "Size limit" to cap the long edge at around 1920px.

What happens to your privacy

Your files are not uploaded; they are redrawn and saved inside this browser. During that step, metadata such as the shooting location (EXIF) does not end up in the result. Files marked "kept the original" are identical to the source, however, so they may still contain location data. Check them with the EXIF remover before sharing.

Frequently asked questions

How many photos can I compress at once?
Up to 50 photos, each up to 100MB, and you can download the results as a single ZIP.
Will the quality get noticeably worse?
Around quality 80 most people cannot tell the difference. Check the preview on each result card, and raise the slider if you are not happy. Changing a setting recompresses automatically.
Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Please convert HEIC to JPG with the HEIC converter first.
